For the second year in a row, the Greek Australian Cultural League has organised a very successful art exhibition. The exhibition, which attracted hundreds of visitors, was launched by Mrs Eleni Lianidou, Consul General of Greece. Mrs Lianidou praised the work of participating artists and congratulated the efforts of the Greek-Australian Cultural League for organising this event.

Master of Ceremonies at the opening was the well-known ABC radio presenter, author and journalist Phil Kafcaloudes who introduced each of the artists and gave a brief analysis of their work. The diverse range and high quality artwork in this year’s exhibition will undoubtedly raise the bench mark for future exhibitions.

The gallery guests who arrived early had the opportunity of uninterrupted viewing of a wide range of artworks. Items on show included paintings, drawings, etchings, digital art, 3D constructions and photographs. It didn’t take long for the gallery to fill to capacity, thus making the viewing of art a little more challenging. Artists who took part in the exhibition were: Costa Athanassiou, Michèle Meister, Pavlos Andronikos, Efrossini Chaniotis, Stella Tsirka, Vasy Petros, Barbara Kitallides, Viviana Gutierrez Gracia, Maria Tsalamandris, Soula Mantalvanou, Peter Tsitas and Christella Demetriou.

The opening night also featured the talented singer Anthea Sidiropoulos accompanied by the equally talented musicians Jacob Papadopoulos and Achilleas Giagoulis. This wonderful trio entertained the guests with several Greek songs and instrumental music.

The Greek-Australian Cultural League of Melbourne is proud to be associated with events of this kind. True to its aims and objectives, the Cultural League over the years has been a driving force behind cultural events in the Greek community of Melbourne. The GACLM congratulates the artists who participated in this year’s exhibition and wishes them well in their future endeavours.
