Preparations have begun again for this year’s Antipodean Palette Art Exhibition, celebrating the diverse work of Greek Australian artists.
Since 2011, the Antipodean Palette has established itself as a major annual art event in the Greek community and invites artists nationwide to exhibit work in a variety of form and medium.
This exhibition offers both emerging and established artists an ideal platform to network and introduce their work to the wider community. It also stimulates public interest in the Visual Arts by highlighting the wonderful talent existing in our community.
The Antipodean Palette is proudly presented by The Greek Australian Cultural League, a driving force behind many cultural events, which supports and promotes writers, artists and musicians.
The exhibition will be held at Steps Gallery, 62 Lygon St. Carlton from August 3rd until August 9th, Mon to Fri 11.00am to 6.30pm, Sat- Sun 11.00am-4.00pm. Opening night will be on Friday August 3rd at 6.30 pm. On the opening night, visitors to the gallery will have the opportunity to select their favourite work for the ‘People’s Choice Award’.
Professional and emerging artists interested in taking part, can submit their entries online before the end of May 2018.
Submissions must include an artist statement, description and dimensions of work/s as well as digital images in JPEG or PNG files no larger than 10MB.

Φέτος είμαστε στην ευχάριστη θέση να γιορτάσουμε τα 45 χρόνια συνεχούς κυκλοφορίας του περιοδικού «Αντίποδες» με μία ειδική, αναμνηστική έκδοση. Η παρουσίαση του θα γίνει την Κυριακή 7 Οκτωβρίου, 2018.
Το περιοδικό φέτος θα είναι αφιερωμένο στο έργο της Αντιγόνης Κεφαλά, μια καταξιωμένη συγγραφέας και ποιήτρια της Αυστραλίας και έχει προταθεί για αρκετά κρατικά βραβεία, κερδίζοντας το βραβείο Judith Wright το 2016 για το πρόσφατο ποιητικό της έργο Fragments [Θραύσματα].
Τα θέματά της περιστρέφονται γύρω από τα κατ’ εξοχήν θέματα των ανθρώπων που έχουν χάσει την πατρίδα τους λόγω πολέμων και προσφυγιάς.
Το τεύχος αυτό θα περιλαμβάνει έργα λογοτεχνών και καλλιτεχνών-μελών του Συνδέσμου μας. Οι λογοτεχνικές συμμετοχές των μελών μας στην ελληνική ή αγγλική γλώσσα θα συμπεριλαμβάνει ποιήματα, διηγήματα, στοχασμούς, μελέτες, δοκίμια, βιβλιοκριτικές, κλπ. Τα έργα που θα υποβληθούν να είναι αυθεντικά και να μην έχουν δημοσιευτεί ή προωθηθεί σε άλλους φορείς.
Λογοτεχνικά έργα που ξεπερνούν τα καθορισμένα για κάθε κατηγορία όρια, όπως παρουσιάζονται παρακάτω, θα απορρίπτονται αυτομάτως πριν καν το περιεχόμενό τους αξιολογηθεί από την Συντακτική Επιτροπή.
Ποιήματα: 100 στίχοι (γραμμές). Διηγήματα και δοκίμια: 2000 λέξεις. Στοχασμοί: 800 λέξεις. Μελέτες: 2000 λέξεις. Βιβλιοκριτικές: 1000 λέξεις.
Η προθεσμία υποβολής των έργων ορίστηκε η 8 Ιουνίου, 2018.

The Greek-Australian Cultural League is announcing this year’s Literary Competition. This
Competition is now an established annual event in the cultural and literary scene of the Greek
community in Australia.

We wish to remind you of its launch and also, to draw to your attention the importance of
the participation of all our members and friends in it. Please submit your works by Friday 8 th June,
2018.
With the participation of all of us, the Literary Competition will be upgraded through
reaching the widest pool of writers in Australia and also, it will give to all our members and friends
the opportunity to present their unpublished works to a wider audience.

The winning entries in each category in each language will be published in Issue No. 64, 2018
of the annual bilingual periodical of the GACL, ANTIPODES. The results of the Literary Competition
will be announced at a special function incorporating the launch of the periodical Antipodes on
Sunday 7 th October 2018 at the Panarcadian Association “O Kolokotronis”, 570 Victoria Street,
North Melbourne.
2018 LITERARY COMPETITION RULES
- The Literary Competition covers work written in either Greek or English in the following
categories: poetry and short stories, by writers residing in Australia and over 18 years of
age.
- Participants are required to complete a registration form which can be downloaded
from the Greek-Australian Cultural League website (www.gacl.com.au) and should
be emailed to the Literary Competition address: gaclitcomp@gmail.com (or use the
application form included at the end of this letter and email it)
- The adjudication will be separate for each language.
- Participants may submit work in one or all the categories and in one or both
languages, with only one piece in each category they choose.
- Works that do not comply with the limits of content, as prescribed below, will be
automatically rejected and will not be forwarded to the Judging Panel.
- Content limits: Poem 100 verses (lines); Short story 2000 words;
- All submissions should be the original work(s) of the authors and should not have
been submitted in another competition or have been previously published.
- Each work submitted should be signed by a pseudonym (nom de plume) and the
same pseudonym should be used in signing all the entries submitted by the same
person.
- Each competition entry should be sent only electronically (Word document
attachment) to the competition email address: gaclitcomp@gmail.com. Additionally,
in a separate text sent to the same email address, participants are required to forward their particulars, including the pseudonym, the full name, address and telephone numbers and also, the number of verses in their poems and number of words in their short stories.
- The First Prize in each category and in each language will receive a commemorative
certificate and a monetary prize. The Second and Third Prizes and any
Commendations will receive a commemorative award certificate and books.
- In all categories and languages, the works awarded First Prize will be published in the 64 th issue of the periodical Antipodes which will be launched on the day of the announcement of the awards, Sunday 7 th October 2018 at the Panarcadian Association, 570 Victoria Street, North Melbourne, from 3:00 pm.

• Ο Διαγωνισμός καλύπτει έργα γραμμένα στην Eλληνική ή Aγγλική γλώσσα στις κατηγορίες: ποίηση και διήγημα από συγγραφείς που διαμένουν στην Αυστραλία, και να είναι ηλικίας άνω των 18 ετών.
• Άτομα που επιθυμούν να λάβουν μέρος στον Διαγωνισμό παρακαλούνται να συμπληρώσουν την αίτηση εγγραφής που μπορούν να κατεβάσουν από την ιστοσελίδα του Ελληνο-Aυστραλιανού Πολιτιστικού Συνδέσμου (www.gacl.com.au) και να τη στείλουν στην ηλεκτρονική διεύθυνση του Λογοτεχνικού Διαγωνισμού: gaclitcomp@gmail.com (ή να χρησιμοποιήσoυν την αίτηση που παραθέτουμε στο τέλος αυτής της επιστολής και να την αποστείλουν ηλεκτρονικά).
• Η αξιολόγηση θα είναι διαφορετική για την κάθε γλώσσα.
• Οι συμμετέχοντες μπορούν να λάβουν μέρος σε μια ή όλες τις κατηγορίες και σε μία ή και στις δύο γλώσσες, με ένα μόνο έργο στην κάθε κατηγορία.
• Έργα που ξεπερνούν τα καθορισμένα για κάθε κατηγορία όρια μεγέθους, όπως παρουσιάζονται παρακάτω, θα απορρίπτονται αυτομάτως πριν καν σταλούν στην Kριτική Eπιτροπή.

• Κάθε έργο θα υπογράφεται μόνο με ψευδώνυμο και το ίδιο ψευδώνυμο πρέπει να χρησιμοποιηθεί για όλα τα έργα που υποβάλλονται από το ίδιο πρόσωπο.
• Κάθε έργο πρέπει να αποσταλεί (Word document attachment) αποκλειστικά στην ηλεκτρονική διεύθυνση gaclitcomp@gmail.com. Στην ίδια διεύθυνση, και με τον ίδιο τρόπο αλλά σε χωριστό κείμενο, θα πρέπει να αποσταλούν και τα προσωπικά στοιχεία εκείνων που θα πάρουν μέρος στον διαγωνισμό, που θα περιλαμβάνουν το ψευδώνυμο, το ονοματεπώνυμο, τη διεύθυνση και τηλέφωνό τους, καθώς και τον αριθμό στίχων για τα ποιήματα, και λέξεων για τα διηγήματα.
• Το Πρώτο Βραβείο σε κάθε κατηγορία και σε κάθε γλώσσα θα είναι ένα αναμνηστικό δίπλωμα και μια επιταγή χρηματικού ποσού. Στο Δεύτερο καιΤρίτο Βραβείο καθώς και στους Επαίνους (αν υπάρχουν) θα απονεμηθούν τιμητικά διπλώματα και βιβλία.
• Τα έργα που θα πάρουν το Πρώτο Βραβείο σε κάθε κατηγορία και στην κάθε μια από τις δύο γλώσσες θα δημοσιευθούν στο περιοδικό Αντίποδες, τεύχος 64, 2018, που θα κυκλοφορήσει την ημέρα της απονομής των βραβείων, την Κυριακή 7 Οκτωβρίου 2018, στον Παναρκαδικό Σύλλογο, 570 Victoria Street North Melbourne, από τις 3:00 μμ.
