Ο Ελληνο-Αυστραλιανός Πολιτιστικός Σύνδεσμος βρίσκεται στην ευχάριστη θέση να ανακοινώσει ότι φέτος η Ετήσια Ομαδική Έκθεση Antipodean Palette – που διοργανώνεται για έβδομη συνεχή χρονιά- θα πραγματοποιηθεί στο δεκαήμερο 17 – 27 Αυγούστου 2017 στη Steps Gallery, 62 Lygon Street Carlton. Τα εγκαίνια της Έκθεσης θα γίνουν την Πέμπτη 17 Αυγούστου 2017, απότις 6: 30 μμ. Η γκαλερί θα είναι ανοικτή από Δευτέρα έως Παρασκευή 10 : 00 πμ – 4 : 00 μμ και τα Σαββατοκύριακα 11 : 00 πμ -3 : 00 μμ
Στόχος της έκθεσης είναι η ανάδειξη και προβολή των εικαστικών τεχνών στην Ελληνική παροικία και στο ευρύτερο κοινό.
O Πολιτιστικός Σύνδεσμος θα απονείμει δύο ξεχωριστά βραβεία – το «Judge’s Prize» και το « People’s Choice». To «Judge’s Prize» θα δοθεί σε ένα έργο που θα επιλεχθεί από ένα καταξιωμένο κριτικό των εικαστικών τεχνών ενώ το «People’s Choice» θα δοθεί στο έργο που θα πάρει τους περισσότερους ψήφους από τα άτομα που θα παρευρεθούν στα εγκαίνια της Έκθεσης.
Καλούμε τους καλλιτέχνες μας – και ιδιαίτερα ενθαρρύνουμε τους νέους καλλιτέχνες – να υποβάλουν ηλεκτρονικά τις αιτήσεις τους για συμμετοχή στην Έκθεση μέχρι τα τέλη Απριλίου. The Greek-Australian Cultural League (GACL) is pleased to announce that this year the Antipodean Palette Group Exhibition – now in its seventh consecutive year – will be held during the 17th -27th August 2017 period at the Steps Gallery, 62 Lygon Street Carlton. The opening night will be on Thursday 17 August 2017 from 6.30 pm. The gallery will be open Monday to Friday 10:00 am-4:00 pm and in the weekends 11:00 am to 3: 00 pm
The aim of Antipodean Palette is to showcase and promote the work of artists in the Greek community and in the wider public.
Visitors to the Exhibition on the opening night will have the opportunity to submit their preference for a “People’s Choice” art prize. As well, an art judge will be appointed to give a “Judge’s Prize” to one of the exhibits.

Sunday 5 March 2017, 3.00 pm The Greek-Australian Cultural League of Melbourne (GACLM), the Hellenic Writers Association of Australia (HWAA) and the Pontian Community of Melbourne and Victoria launch the new books by Dina Amanatidou OAM, EXISTENTIAL (Meditations, scattered thoughts), ECHO OF SILENCE (Haiku) and FRAGILE WORLD (poetry).
The books will be launched by Dr Maria Herodotou, La Trobe University, Dr Christos Fifis and Mrs Cathy Alexopoulos OAM, President of the GACLM, who will also perform the duties of MC, at the functions room of the Pontian Community of Melbourne and Victoria, 345 Victoria St. Brunswick.
· Sunday 19 March 2017, 3.00 pm The GACLM and HWAA will launch Athena Leftherioti-Ginaki’s novel The Tear of the Moon. - ΠΕΡΙΟΔΙΚΟ «ΑΝΤΙΠΟΔΕΣ» Τεύχος 63, 2017 – PERIODICAL «ANTIPODES» Issue No. 63, 2017
Το 63ο τεύχος του λογοτεχνικού περιοδικού Αντίποδες θα κυκλοφορήσει την Κυριακή 15 Οκτωβρίου 2017 με ειδικό αφιέρωμα στο έργο του Kαθηγητή Βρασίδα Καραλή, καθηγητή στην Έδρα Νεοελληνικών του Πανεπιστημίου του Σύδνεϋ και μια συμβολή στην επέτειο των 60 χρόνων από τον θάνατο του Νίκου Καζαντζάκη.
Το τεύχος αυτό θα περιλαμβάνει επίσης έργα λογοτεχνών και καλλιτεχνών, μελών του Συνδέσμου μας στην ελληνική ή αγγλική γλώσσα όπως ποιήματα, διηγήματα, στοχασμούς, μελέτες, δοκίμια, βιβλιοκριτικές, κριτικές εκθέσεων, θεατρικών παραστάσεων και κινηματογραφικών ταινιών καθώς και έργα εικαστικών τεχνών.
Τα υποβαλλόμενα έργα πρέπει να είναι αυθεντικά και να μην έχουν δημοσιευθεί ή προωθηθεί σε άλλους φορείς. Λογοτεχνικά έργα δεν πρέπει να υπερβαίνουν τα καθορισμένα όρια που είναι, ποιήματα: 100 στίχοι (γραμμές), διηγήματα και δοκίμια: 2000 λέξεις, στοχασμοί: 800 λέξεις, μελέτες: 2000 λέξεις, βιβλιοκριτικές και άλλες κριτικές (εκθέσεων, μουσικών εκδηλώσεων, θεατρικών παραστάσεων ή κινηματογραφικών έργων): 1000 λέξεις.
Προθεσμία υποβολής έργων ορίστηκε η 23η Ιουνίου 2017. Υποβαλλόμενα έργα που υπερβαίνουν τα ανωτέρω καθορισμένα όρια δεν θα είναι αποδεκτά. Είναι απαραίτητο τα έργα να υποβληθούν μόνο σε ηλεκτρονική μορφή Word document (επισυναπτόμενο), στη διεύθυνση gacl.editor@gmail.com
The 63rd Issue of the literary periodical Antipoδes will be launched on Sunday 15 October 2017. The issue will pay a special tribute to Professor Vrasidas Karalis, Professor of the Sir Nicholas Laurantus Chair of Modern Greek at the University of Sydney and will also include a commemoration of the sixty years since the death of Nikos Kazantzakis.
As usual, this issue will publish works submitted by our members such as poems, short stories, studies, essays, book reviews and οther literary works, in Greek and English and the Visual Arts.
Woks submitted for publication must be original works that have not been published or promoted in other publications. Literary works should not be longer than the prescribed limits which are: poems: 100 verses (lines), short stories and essays: 2000 words, meditations: 800 words, studies: 2000 words, book reviews and other reviews (exhibitions, music, plays, films): 1000 words.
The deadline for submitting contributions is the 23rd June 2017. Works that exceed the limits specified above will be rejected. Works submitted for publication must be sent only electronically in Word document format (attachment) to gacl.editor@gmail.com
- ΛΟΓΟΤΕΧΝΙΚΟΣ ΔΙΑΓΩΝΙΣΜΟΣ LITERARY COMPETITION
Ο Ελληνο-Αυστραλιανός Πολιτιστικός Σύνδεσμος διοργανώνει τον ετήσιο Λογοτεχνικό Διαγωνισμό, που έχει καθιερωθεί πλέον ως θεσμός στα πολιτιστικά και λιγοτεχνικά δρώμενα της ομογένειας στην Αυστραλία.
Ο Λογοτεχνικός Διαγωνισμός καλύπτει έργα γραμμένα στην Ελληνική ή Αγγλική γλώσσα, από συγγραφείς που διαμένουν στην Αυστραλία, στις ακόλουθες κατηγορίες: ποίηση, διήγημα και μονόπρακτο θεατρικό έργο.
Η συμμετοχή στον Λογοτεχνικό διαγωνισμό είναι ανοικτή στα μέλη και στους υποστηρικτές του ΕΑΠΣ. Με τη συμμετοχή όλων μας θα αναβαθμιστεί ο θεσμός και θα δοθεί η δυνατότητα σε όσο το δυνατό περισσότερα συμμετέχοντα άτομα να παρουσιάσουν αδημοσίευτες εργασίες τους στο ευρύτερο κοινό. Φέτος η προθεσμία υποβολής έργων για συμμετοχή στον Διαγωνισμό λήγει την Παρασκευή 14 Ιουλίου 2017.

- Ο Διαγωνισμός καλύπτει έργα γραμμένα στην Eλληνική ή Aγγλική γλώσσα στις εξής κατηγορίες: ποίηση, διήγημα και μονόπρακτο θεατρικό έργο από συγγραφείς που διαμένουν στην Αυστραλία, ανεξαρτήτως ηλικίας.
- Άτομα που επιθυμούν να λάβουν μέρος στον Διαγωνισμό παρακαλούνται να συμπληρώσουν την αίτηση εγγραφής που μπορούν να κατεβάσουν από την ιστοσελίδα του Ελληνο-Aυστραλιανού Πολιτιστικού Συνδέσμου (www.gacl.com.au) και να τη στείλουν στην ηλεκτρονική διεύθυνση του Λογοτεχνικού Διαγωνισμού: gaclitcomp@gmail.com (ή να χρησιμοποιήσoυν την αίτηση που παραθέτουμε στο τέλος αυτής της επιστολής και να την αποστείλουν ηλεκτρονικά).
- Η αξιολόγηση θα είναι διαφορετική για την κάθε γλώσσα.
- Οι συμμετέχοντες μπορούν να λάβουν μέρος σε μια ή όλες τις κατηγορίες και σε μία ή και στις δύο γλώσσες, με ένα μόνο έργο στην κάθε κατηγορία.
- Έργα που ξεπερνούν τα καθορισμένα για κάθε κατηγορία όρια μεγέθους, όπως παρουσιάζονται παρακάτω, θα απορρίπτονται αυτομάτως πριν καν σταλούν στην Kριτική Eπιτροπή.
- Όρια: Ποίημα 100 στίχοι (γραμμές), Διήγημα 2000 λέξεις, Μονόπρακτο 15 λεπτά (διάρκεια)
- Κάθε έργο πρέπει να είναι αυθεντικό και να μην έχει δημοσιευθεί ή προωθηθεί σε άλλους φορείς.
- Κάθε έργο θα υπογράφεται μόνο με ψευδώνυμο και το ίδιο ψευδώνυμο πρέπει να χρησιμοποιηθεί για όλα τα έργα που υποβάλλονται από το ίδιο πρόσωπο.
- Κάθε έργο πρέπει να αποσταλεί (Word document attachment) αποκλειστικά στην ηλεκτρονική διεύθυνση gaclitcomp@gmail.com. Στην ίδια διεύθυνση, και με τον ίδιο τρόπο αλλά σε χωριστό κείμενο, θα πρέπει να αποσταλούν και τα προσωπικά στοιχεία εκείνων που θα πάρουν μέρος στον διαγωνισμό, που θα περιλαμβάνουν το ψευδώνυμο, το ονοματεπώνυμο, τη διεύθυνση και τηλέφωνό τους, καθώς και τον αριθμό στίχων για τα ποιήματα, και λέξεων για τα διηγήματα.
- Το Πρώτο Βραβείο σε κάθε κατηγορία και σε κάθε γλώσσα θα είναι ένα αναμνηστικό δίπλωμα και μια επιταγή χρηματικού ποσού. Στο Δεύτερο καιΤρίτο Βραβείο καθώς και στους Επαίνους (αν υπάρχουν) θα απονεμηθούν τιμητικά διπλώματα και βιβλία.
- Τα έργα που θα πάρουν το Πρώτο Βραβείο σε κάθε κατηγορία και στην κάθε μια από τις δύο γλώσσες θα δημοσιευθούν στο περιοδικό Αντίποδες, τεύχος 63, 2017, που θα κυκλοφορήσει την ημέρα της απονομής των βραβείων, την Κυριακή 15 Οκτωβρίου 2017, στον Παναρκαδικό Σύλλογο, 570 Victoria Street North Melbourne, από τις 3:00 μμ.

The Greek-Australian Cultural League is announcing this year’s Literary Competition. This Competition is now an established annual event in the cultural and literary scene of the Greek community in Australia.
The Literary Competition includes works written in the Greek or English language, by writers residing in Australia, in the following categories: Poetry, Short story and One Act theatrical play.
We wish to remind you of its launch and also, to draw to your attention the importance of the participation of all our members and friends in it. Please submit your works by Friday 14 July 2017.
With the participation of all of us, the Literary Competition will be upgraded through reaching the widest pool of writers in Australia and also, it will give to all our members and friends the opportunity to present their unpublished works to a wider audience.
Looking forward to your positive response, we are forwarding the Rules of the Literary Competition and the Application for Participation that you may send together with your works to the e-mail address gaclitcomp@gmail.com.
The winning entries in each category in each language will be published in Issue No. 63, 2017 of the annual bilingual periodical of the League, ANTIPODES. The results of the Literary Competition will be announced at a special function incorporating the launch of the periodical Antipodes on Sunday 15 October 2017 at the Panarcadian Association “O Kolokotronis”, 570 Victoria Street, North Melbourne.
2017 LITERARY COMPETITION RULES
- The Literary Competition covers work written in either Greek or English in the following categories: poetry, short stories and one-act theatrical plays, by writers resident in Australia and is open to all ages.
- Participants are required to complete a registration form which can be downloaded from the Greek-Australian Cultural League website (gacl.com.au) and should be emailed to the Literary Competition address: gaclitcomp@gmail.com (or use the application form included at the end of this letter and email it)
- The adjudication will be separate for each language.
- Participants may submit work in one or all the categories and in one or both languages, with only one piece in each category they choose.
- Works that do not comply with the limits of content, as prescribed below, will be automatically rejected and will not be forwarded to the Judging Panel.
- Content limits: Poem 100 verses (lines); Short story 2000 words; One-act play 15 minutes’ duration.
- All submissions should be the original work(s) of the authors and should not have been submitted in another competition or have been previously published.
- Each work submitted should be signed by a pseudonym (nom de plume) and the same pseudonym should be used in signing all the entries submitted by the same person.
- Each competition entry should be sent only electronically (Word document attachment) to the competition email address: gaclitcomp@gmail.com. Additionally, in a separate text sent to the same email address, participants are required to forward their particulars, including the pseudonym, the full name, address and telephone numbers and also, the number of verses in their poems and number of words in their short stories.
- The First Prize in each category and in each language will be a commemorative certificate and a monetary prize. The Second and Third Prizes and any Commendations will be a relevant award certificate and books.
- In all categories and languages, the works awarded First Prize will be published in the 62nd issue of the periodical Antipodes which will be launched on the day of the announcement of the awards, Sunday 15 October 2017 at the Panarcadian Association, 570 Victoria Street, North Melbourne, from 3:00 pm.
