Antipodean Palette – 9th Annual Art Exhibition 2019

The Greek Australian Culture League is a non-profit organization which was established in 1970. It supports the creative endeavours of Greek – Australian writers and artists whose work reflects the confluence of both cultures. The League contributes to the enrichment of literature and the arts by initiating and organizing a number of successful annual events. These include the Antipodean Palette Art Exhibition, an Annual Literary Competition and the publication of the bilingual Antipodes periodical. In December 2006, the GACL received the Medal for Excellence in Multicultural Affairs & Meritorious Service to the Community.

This year we are proud to announce our 9th Annual event “Antipodean Palette”. An art exhibition offering an excellent opportunity for established and emerging artists to meet as a collective group while introducing their work to the broader audience. This platform also offers an excellent opportunity for emerging artists to gain experience by introducing them to the process of exhibiting.

The “Call for Entries” this year proved extremely successful attracting an eclectic group of local and regional, established and emerging Greek-Australian artists of all age groups. Various mediums of artwork will be exhibited; painting, photography, mixed media, 3D installation, sculpture, heritage jewellery and monotype prints.

Artists exhibiting this year are: Angy Labiris, Aphroditi Karalis, Barbara Kitallides, Christella Demetriou, Effie Chaniotis, Helen Sartinas, James Josephides, James Pasakos, Kyriaki Teo, Luke Spiliopoulos, Maritsa Micos, Masonik Arts, Menio Kottakis, Rolando Garay-Matziaris and Sofronis Michaelides.

In past years, this event has been very successful and attracted hundreds of people to the gallery. In 2013 the exhibition was launched by the Victorian Minister for the Arts, the Hon. Heidi Victoria. In 2015, it was opened by the Minister for Creative Industries, The Hon. Martin Foley, MP.

This year we are proud to announce the official opening of the 9 th Annual Art Exhibition will be launched by Professor Nikos Papastergiadis, Director of the Research Unit of Public Lectures, School of Culture and Communication, University of Melbourne, on Thursday 23rd May 2019 at 6:30pm.
